Upstate HomeCare was founded in 1985 by two respiratory therapists who originally started the company as a home medical equipment and oxygen provider.   The founders wanted to create a work environment where employees felt safe from unscrupulous owners and valued for their contributions.  They also desired a work place that treated employees and customers like family.

Over the company’s greater than 30 years, Upstate HomeCare has developed into a leading regional provider of Infusion Therapy, Specialty Medications, Respiratory Therapy and Home Medical Equipment Services.

Policies and Procedures

Upstate HomeCare’s foundation is built on its policies and procedures.  These policies and procedures are developed from a variety of sources, both internal and external.  Upstate HomeCare incorporates and draws from standards set forth by the State Department of Health, ACHC, (Accreditation Commission for Health Care), State Board of Pharmacy, National Home Infusion Association, New York Medical Equipment Providers, American Association for Homecare, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other regulatory and clinical best practices.

Upstate HomeCare serves the entire age spectrum, from infants to adults, in all of its lines of business.  All clinical staff are licensed in their field of expertise and possess additional work experience, education, and/or certifications; which qualify them to practice in this highly specialized environment.

Coverage Area

Upstate serves a very diverse geographic area in both size and setting.  Some areas are very remote and rural while others are very urban and densely populated.  Upstate HomeCare adapts its services to the needs of the patient by viewing each patient as an individual with specific needs.  Upstate also evaluates a patient’s suitability for home equipment/therapy services based in part on a patient's level of caregiver support, whether from family or private sources.

Available 24/7

Upstate HomeCare provides all patients, regardless of the service or product they are receiving, access to on-call personnel consisting of driver/technicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and administrators, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in each of the company's locations and service areas.

Certifications

All services that Upstate HomeCare provides are carried out in accordance with Federal, State and local laws and established regulatory guidelines as dictated by the New York State Board of Pharmacy, New York State Department of Health, New York State Nurse Practice Act, professional associations and established standards of care.
